AIFS ABROAD SIBLING DISCOUNT PROGRAM

These are the Official Rules of the American Institute for Foreign Study, Inc.’s Sibling Discount Program (the “Sibling Discount”). The Sponsor of the Sibling Discount is American Institute for Foreign Study, Inc. (“AIFS Abroad”), located at 1 High Ridge Road, Stamford, CT 06905. AIFS Abroad can be contacted at (203) 399-5000. The Sibling Discount is subject to these Official Rules.


Sibling Discount Details

AIFS Abroad is offering a program fee discount to eligible applicants whose sibling previously participated in an AIFS Abroad or ACIS program since 2006 (the "Sibling Discount"). The discount details and conditions are as follows:

  • ✦ Eligible first-time AIFS Abroad applicants whose sibling previously participated in an AIFS Abroad or ACIS program since 2006 will receive a $500 discount on the program fee for eligible short-term programs (including Summer, May Term, January Term, Spring Break, and Winter Quarter programs) or a $1,000 discount on the program fee for Spring or Fall semester programs.
  • ✦ The Sibling Discount applies only to in-person study abroad and internship programs. Virtual, faculty-led, and customized programs are excluded.
  • ✦ The Sibling Discount will be applied to the program fee balance due and cannot be applied to the application fee or initial deposit.
  • ✦ The Sibling Discount may be combined with AIFS Abroad scholarships and promotional offers.
  • ✦ Participation in the Sibling Discount is subject to verification by AIFS Abroad prior to award.
  • ✦ The Sibling Discount is limited to one Sibling Discount per eligible applicant, regardless of the number of siblings who have previously participated in an AIFS Abroad program.
  • ✦ The discount is non-transferable and may not be applied retroactively to applications or deposits already submitted.


Eligibility

  • ✦ To be eligible, the applicant must be a first-time applicant to AIFS Abroad whose sibling has previously participated in an AIFS Abroad or ACIS program since 2006.
  • ✦ The Sibling Discount is available only to applicants participating in an AIFS Abroad program beginning in 2027 or later.
  • ✦ This discount applies only to eligible programs and terms as defined above and cannot be applied to programs outside those terms.
  • ✦ The Sibling Discount cannot be applied to completed programs or programs in process.
  • ✦ Alumni of AIFS Abroad whose program has concluded are not eligible to receive this discount for another program.
  • ✦ The Sibling Discount is not available if the applicant and their sibling are participating in AIFS Abroad programs during the same term.
  • ✦ To qualify, the applicant must submit the name of their sibling on Page 1 of the AIFS Abroad application.


Definition of Sibling

  • ✦ For purposes of this discount, “sibling” means a biological sibling, half-sibling, adopted sibling, or step-sibling of the applicant. AIFS Abroad reserves the right to request reasonable documentation to verify sibling eligibility, including proof of the sibling relationship and prior participation in an AIFS Abroad program.


Miscellaneous

  • a. Binding Agreement
    By participating in the Sibling Discount, each applicant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of AIFS Abroad, which shall be final and binding. AIFS Abroad reserves the right to disqualify any participant who, in its sole discretion, tampers with the discount process or violates these Official Rules.
  • b. Program Modifications and Termination
    AIFS Abroad reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Sibling Discount Program at any time, for any reason, without prior notice, provided that no changes will be made contrary to governing law.
  • c. Compliance with Laws
    All applicable federal, state, and local laws apply. Any applicable taxes on discount awards are the responsibility of the recipient.
  • d. Limitations of Liability
    AIFS Abroad and its employees, officers, directors, agents, and representatives shall not be responsible for any technical malfunctions, incomplete application materials, or other issues that may prevent an applicant from properly receiving the discount.
  • e. Dispute Resolution
    Applicants agree that any dispute relating to the Sibling Discount shall be resolved individually without class action and exclusively in the state and federal courts located in Connecticut, without regard to any state’s conflict of laws principles.
  • f. Severability
    If any provision of these Official Rules is deemed invalid or unenforceable, it shall be modified to the extent necessary to render it valid and enforceable, and the remainder of the Official Rules shall remain in full force and effect.
  • g. Waiver of Liability and Indemnification
    By participating in the Sibling Discount, each participant and their heirs, successors, and assigns release and hold harmless AIFS Abroad and its affiliates from any claims or losses arising from participation in the Sibling Discount Program.
